Roy Bisson
Dear Elector
Listening to islanders, and particularly those from St. Peter Port, all are agreed that the greatest challenge to the States in the next four years will be the control of States expenditure, elimination of overspends and the provision of public services without increasing personal taxation, fees and charges.
To accomplish such a challenge, States members will have to combine experience, knowledge and a commitment for change.
With eight years as chairman of the WEA Guernsey Economy Course, 15 years chairing consumer groups both in Guernsey and nationally and seven years representing St. Peter Port in the States, I believe that I can bring that combination for the benefit of my island.
There will be many issues arising in the next States, but those that have particular meaning to St. Peter Port residents are: Overnight parking <\#208>present proposals are not good enough: Vandalism and drunkenness on the streets - the police must get a hold and victims must be compensated: Noisy motorbikes - the law must be applied.
For the island, Climate change - we must be prepared: Local produce - let’s help our growers supply fresher fruit and vegetables at better prices: Primary schools - should be small and local. Above all let us preserve Guernsey’s independence and traditional character.
In future, I believe that the States will be better understood and make better decisions if it undertakes more consultation with islanders.
During the next few weeks I shall attempt to call on every elector in St. Peter Port North. I will also send you my manifesto. Should we not meet, please log on to: blog.roy.bisson.com.
I trust that you will give me your support. Thank you.
