St Peter Port South

webber.jpgTony Webber

I was privileged to be elected between 1991 and 2004, both as a St. Peter Port deputy and as an island wide counsellor. I am, by many years, the most experienced candidate standing.

I am a Guernseyman, educated at Elizabeth College, with a degree and professional qualifications obtained in England.

My successes in the States have included fighting for the formation of the Public Accounts and Scrutiny Committees, which are just some of my areas of interest.

I was a member of the Income Tax Authority for six years, when there was high

confidence in our economic management. We now have some uncertainty

with the zero-10 tax strategy, and it is time for safe and secure economic leadership.

It is time for priorities to be defined and costed, for important projects to be kept within budget, for our essential services to be protected and for education investment, not primary school closure.

It is time for our government to act in a strong, stable, sensible, statesmanlike and responsible manner and to earn the respect of the public.

We need a united Guernsey, caring of everyone in the community and its housing needs.

Security and safety is vital to protect our citizens from violence and vandalism, resolve the drug problem and combat child abuse.

More environmental policy initiatives are necessary, many of which including re-cycling, have come from me. The Residents’ Parking Permits was originally my idea.

I offer proven experience. I organised the Island People’s Meetings and had nearly 100% attendance throughout my 13 years in the States. I have a record of dedicated service to the public.

Please give me the privilege of your vote, and another chance to serve you again.

I am endeavouring to call on every elector.
