Ivan Rihoy
I am a Guernsey man, married to Diana with daughters who attended St Sampson’s Schools. My experience as a Deputy and as a Conseiller, elected Island wide twice, combined with my active role in the business community and my understanding of challenges that lie ahead over the next four years, will enable me to best represent the people of St. Sampson’s and our Island.
Our finance sector creates most of the island’s revenue. However a successful economy cannot rely on one sector. We must invest in all activities that contribute to a thriving community, Health, Education, free Dental and Optical care, livable pensions - all are important, especially with the Zero 10 tax regime. It must work, must be closely monitored, prioritizing all future capital expenditure, work with the Islands business plan, and be accountable. It is essential to have no more overspends.
I have always listened to the people of St Sampson’s and have never ignored the fact that you put me where I am, and hopefully, I have never let you down.
Common sense eventually prevailed regarding the main drains at Baubigny, but this would never have been done if left. I would like to continue with this work.
I also promise to work hard to make the route to our new school as safe as possible for our children. We still have time, but Baubigny remains treacherous.
Both liquid and solid waste disposal must be a priority and it is positive that there is the possibility of a public/private partnership investing in new technology to deal with this. Sewage treatment if possible should be combined with the solid waste plant.
If elected, I have the experience, stability, strong leadership and ability to represent you, with honesty and trust, in a transparent and passionate manner. Please give me your vote.
