St Sampson’s

Vote for Brian Harris and give me a chance to make a difference.

I feel very strongly about keeping the unique character of this beautiful island, especially now when its people are being hit hard by current policies. With zero 10, the burden of lost revenue in tax is being placed upon the people of Guernsey. This amounts to 100 million per year. The less well paid and small to medium-sized businesses will be hardest hit.

The old tax policy for finance companies allowed some to pay 2% and others 20% tax. This was deemed to be unfair. I realise that the finance sector is very important and would hope to work with them.

I am sure that this very wealthy sector would be willing to contribute taxes towards services, which they use, such as police, fire and others.

I believe that rather than going to 0% tax to benefit finance companies, there should be a compromise, which will ensure we remain competitive within the finance world.

I do not want to see any more stealth taxes and would strongly oppose a goods and service tax.

There has to be accountability. We need more freedom of information.

Decisions have to be open to scrutiny by those paying the bills - the taxpayers!

Any project funded by the taxpayer has to be practical and constitute value for money, and where possible, use Guernsey know how and labour.

It is not common sense to build a new airport terminal ahead of upgrading the runway.

I know voters have little faith that most deputies, once elected, will listen to the people’s views.

I make a solemn pledge to listen to the views of the people of St Sampson.

I am not frightened to speak out.
