Vale

dejersey.jpgBrian de Jersey

I HAVE served the Vale parish for 23 years and have lived in Guernsey since 1945 and am married to Glennys. Member of Les Capelles Methodist Church, I am in my 29th year as choir master, Member of the Guernsey Choral and Orchestral Society, Guernsey Chamber of Commerce and La Societe Guernesiaise.

I have served as procureur, constable and douzenier to date. Involved in the Vale’s 50th year of Liberation, was chairman of the Millennium celebrations, the Golden Jubilee Party and the Vale 1204-2004 exhibition and book.

I entered the States in 2000, serving on IDC, Heritage, Arts, Scrutiny Committee and PERRC.

My political aims are to represent the Vale community as much as I can to try and understand their points of view and to stand up for their rights.

I am committed to more States rental units and promote States’ owned land bank for first time buyers with a restriction or levy if sold.

Facilities must be provided for our students and teachers to have the best education.

The Government Business Plan is in its early stage of development and I would like to see this progress.

I support island wide voting and electronic voting in the States.

In the next States of Deliberation there will be many challenges and I would like to be able to support the people of the Vale, making sure their rights are protected and not eroded by a cabinet government. The States needs to be comprised of members of proven stability, ability and integrity.

I am prepared to rise to the challenge and am proud to be a Guernseyman with a resolve to uphold its institutions and Guernsey’s autonomy at a time when there could be many suggestions from outside the island to make changes.

Please consider my commitment to you when you vote on 23 April.
