SANTA on a jet ski and a herd of illuminated reindeer were some of the festive decorations at this year’s Bachmann’s Winter Wonderland, which attracted more than 3,000 islanders last night .

Peter and Frankie Bachmann opened up their St Saviour’s garden for the 16th year to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Lions’ Club of Guernsey.

Clare Cairns, from Cancer Research UK, said this year’s response had been amazing.

‘All 3,000 tickets were sold in advance and we have taken bucket loads more on the gate,’ she said.
‘It has been a phenomenal year.’

The Lions’ Club are joint beneficiaries of the event. Lions’ Club organiser John Cook said it had been a great night.

The event raised about £14,000 last year, and Mr Cook believed last night’s total might surpass that amount.
