Confiance four are confident

Monday 12th April 2004, 12:00AM BST.

THE directors of a new local firm are hoping that their experience will help build trust with their clients. Mike Brown, Rudi Falla, Les Hilton and Geoff Le Page, who have more than 100 years of experience between them, have set up Confiance trust company.

‘Our aim is to deliver the highest level of personal service by combining our considerable trust, tax and commercial experience with the skills of lawyers, tax advisers, accountants and investment bankers with whom we have forged close ties,’ said Mr Hilton.

‘The directors have all known each other for over 20 years, so we all fully understand our individual strengths. Although we have been in the industry for some time, each of us brings our own particular skills. ‘Additionally, we have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of our client base and have positioned ourselves to deliver a level of service that will fulfil those needs.’

Mr Hilton qualified as a chartered accountant in 1969 and most recently was chairman of Bachmann Trust Company Ltd. Mr Brown also left Bachmanns to join Confiance. He holds a master’s degree in corporate governance and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries.

Mr Falla is also a former Bachmanns employee while Mr Le Page previously served as a director of RBC Trustees Guernsey.

‘Despite the length of time that we have all been in the trust business, this is without doubt the most exciting stage in our careers. We all believe passionately in putting personal service at the top of our list of objectives and are confident that this can be achieved in a cost-effective manner while still meeting the most exacting professional standards,’ said Mr Brown.

Confiance is fully compliant with the regulations laid down by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.

‘We have appointed an experienced and qualified compliance officer and invested in state-of-the-art technology to ensure that control processes, data integrity and back-up are of the highest standard.

‘We believe that the future of the trust industry in Guernsey is assured and we look forward to making our contribution to its long-term development.’
