Games director back in the fold
Friday 16th April 2004, 12:00AM BST.
ROY MARTEL, last year’s NatWest Island Games director, has returned to his former employer. Mr Martel has gone back to MeesPierson Reads, where he will have responsibility for carrying out all group-company secretarial duties and looking after special projects.
‘I am delighted to be back in the fold,’ said Mr Martel.
‘There is a tremendous family atmosphere here and some of the best sportsmen and women from the Games are members of staff. It seems like I have hardly been away.’
Mr Martel joined the firm as manager of its secretarial department in 1984, when it was known as Reads & Co.
He retired from the group in 2002 when he was appointed Games director with special responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the administration.
