Tuesday 4th May 2004, 12:00AM BST.

PETER JORY took the grand aggregate prize as Guernsey Rifle Club hosted a seven-man team from the Royal Navy and Elizabeth College at the Spring Prize meeting. The meeting is an individual shoot. A concurrent team match was put together between the RN, EC & GRC. The GRC managed to come out on top, with the Navy team coming second from the College in third.

The Falla/Highfield competition was a two-range shoot at 300 and 500 yards, with seven rounds to count at each distance.

It is normally a three-range competition but due to bad weather and time the last range was cancelled.

Nick Mace managed to come back to his home turf and snatch this one away from John Norman with a 68.08 from Norman’s 68.07.

The B-class cup, the Highfield, was won by Peter Knight, one of the College students, with a 63.03. His closest rivals were Nick Burton (EC) and Cherry Le Poidevin, who scored 62.04 each.

Rain and fog on Saturday morning caused a late start and yet another range had to be knocked off the normal three-range shoot.

Jory managed to dodge the worst of the rain showers put in a full-house 100.13 ex100.20 and grab the Renouf Trophy from Mace and Norman closely following him with 99.13 each.

In the Randall, the B-class cup, Burton was not deterred by the rain and managed to claim this one from Le Poidevin, with 94.06 and 94.04 respectively.

The Saturday afternoon saw the last competition, the Albany Bowl and Shieling Trophies. This saw a complete turnaround in the weather. The Albany Bowl was a 15-round shoot at 500 and 600 yards.

Lucy Mace snatched this one from Ian Donaldson with a 148.19; Donaldson was a few V-bulls down with 148.17. Burton claimed the B Class again with 144.10.

Jory, after checking his closest competitors’ scores, managed to hold his lead in the Grand Aggregate to win by a couple of points from Nick Mace, with Norman and Lucy Mace three points down.

The B-class Grand Aggregate winner was no surprise – after he took all but one trophy through the whole meeting -Burton.

His grand total was 300.20 with the closest competitor six points down from him.
