Mancunian does for Duff – just

TOM DUFF just lost out on a split decision when he topped the bill in the final dinner boxing event of the season at St Pierre Park. The Guernsey middleweight was up against the strong K. Turner from the Manchester Select team and the two produced a cracking bout that was edged by the visitor.

The Guernsey winners on the night included young Bradley Watson, who stopped his opponent J. Cunliffe in the first round. That was followed by victories for Tom Martin and Dave Froome.

‘Tom was probably the most impressive; he boxed a very experienced lad,’ said Amalgamated Boys Club coach Graham Guilbert.

‘Dave Froome boxed very well to win. He is our best newcomer.’

The Manchester team came out winners of the overall match by one bout as Callum Pearson, Simon Hainsworth and Adam Rose all succumbed to their opponent, but Guilbert described it as a good night with which to end the season.

Matt Jennings was not on the card due to work commitments.
