Sarnians out for revenge

Saturday 8th May 2004, 12:00AM BST.

DARYL BUTCHER’s island darts team will be seeking revenge for last year’s terrible hammering in Jersey when the two islands clash again this evening. The Hampshire Lodge will surely be packed in the hope that the Sarnians can put a smile back on local darts after the dismal efforts of 2003.

Butcher said he was pleased with the team chosen and confident in their ability.

‘The majority of them are experienced at playing in this type of competition,’ he said.

Butcher, who recently won the CI Carling Trophy for a second successive year, will have to lead by example if Guernsey are to regain the trophy.

Most of the side played last year but there is a return for former island star Paul Shepherd.

This evening also sees the CI women’s individual being played and Tracy de la Haye is the local hope after coming through five rounds.

nニMatch starts at 8.15pm.
