Debbie collects an Ozcar
Thursday 27th May 2004, 12:00AM BST.
TRAFALGAR TRAVEL has won an ‘Ozcar’. The agency received the best campaign by an Australian specialist agent award at the Australian Tourist Commission’s inaugural
ceremony.
‘It’s recognition of the fact that we are actively promoting Australia,’ said Trafalgar specialist agent Debbie Freestone-Roberts.
‘I have travelled there six times; I love the country and I enjoy passing on my knowledge.’
Mrs Freestone-Roberts was the only representative from the Channel Islands at the awards ceremony.
‘I am delighted that Debbie’s hard work in promoting and selling Australia as a destination has been justly rewarded,’ said Trafalgar Travel managing director Vaughan Davies.
‘Travelling down under is a trip of a lifetime for many clients and what better way to plan your trip than with a well-experienced Aussie specialist who can share her love of this vast country and also offer an abundance of ideas to ensure that your holiday there is complete?’
There were awards in 11 categories and the ceremony was attended by agencies from across the British Isles and Ireland.
‘It was a significant event,’ said Mrs Freestone-Roberts.
‘There were lots of operators and a few Australia specialists there, and it was by invitation only.’
The Australian Tourist Commission also unveiled its new logo at the ceremony.
Mrs Freestone-Roberts is also a Qantas Global Achiever and has held theme days in the Picquet House travel shop.
‘We had a big promotion in the office,’ she said.
‘We had eight suppliers who came in and we invited clients through lunchtime. It was hugely successful. People could come in, sit down and have a chat about their Australian trip.’
