Fiduciary and intelligence deputy director steps up

Tuesday 17th August 2004, 12:00AM BST.

THE island’s financial services regulator has a new director of fiduciary and intelligence services. Stephen Trevor will replace Talmai Morgan, who left the Guernsey Financial Services Commission to head the Guernsey Promotional Agency earlier this year.

Mr Trevor, currently the division’s deputy director, said: ‘I am pleased and flattered to have been chosen to succeed Talmai, with whom I have worked very closely since I joined the commission in 1999.

‘I know from the last five years that the job is a demanding one but I will have a very strong team in this division and will work with them, and with the fiduciary sector, to ensure that regulation of the sector continues to operate smoothly but effectively.’

The division is responsible for licensing the Bailiwick’s fiduciary businesses, coordination with other jurisdictions and intelligence.

It has regular contact with the Attorney General’s office, Customs and Excise and the Financial Intelligence Service.

Director-general Peter Neville said: ‘We had a good number of excellent candidates and it is a reflection of Stephen’s experience and his contribution to the commission so far that he has been chosen.

‘I am looking forward to working with him as a strong addition to the senior management team.’
