SAM ROBINS has won the West Coast Sea Angling Club’s Carlton Trophy, which is awarded for an all-night-in-Guernsey match which is part of its shore championship series. His winning bag consisted of one black bream, one sole, three garfish, nine scad, eight mackerel and one lesser-spotted dogfish for 14-8-0 and 131 points.

The event attracted 17 members, with 14 bringing fish to the scales. It was a very mixed catch, with the capture of four Couch’s sea bream being the highlight. The remainder consisted of two black bream, two sole, seven garfish, 14 mackerel, 31 scad, two lesser-spotted dogfish, six grey mullet and one red mullet.

The competition kitty was shared between Robins who had the heaviest sole, a fish of 1-10-0 and Craig McGrath who caught the red mullet, a

1-9-0 fish.

The match result meant that Tony Barrasin opened a lead of 53fi points at the top of the Guernsey shore championship table with two matches remaining.

At the top of the overall championship only 2/ points separate Mark Hooper in top spot over second-placed Robins.
