New course has its first successes
Tuesday 24th August 2004, 12:00AM BST.
THE first students to complete a new course at the Guernsey Business School have been presented with their diplomas. The level-four diploma in administrative management from the Institute of Administrate Management is aimed at senior secretaries and personal assistants and it is hoped that students will take their studies further.
They can now study for an advanced diploma and then consider a BA (Hons) in strategic administrative management.
Stuart Le Maitre, director of industry and commerce at the Department of Commerce and Employment, presented the diplomas in a ceremony at the College of Further Education.
‘The only sure way to achieve Guernsey’s objectives of being competitive and forward-thinking in the global marketplace is to not only invest in modern technology but to ensure the people who are at the heart of the organisation are those who are the most capable,’ he said.
Mr Le Maitre also presented students with diplomas in level-five management, which is aimed at middle and aspiring senior managers.
Run by the business school for the past five years, a number of students have gone on to complete MBAs and one has successfully applied to undertake Durham University’s prestigious MBA.
The school now hopes to become an international tutor centre so that it can support Nottingham Trent University’s programme.
