Rangers win five from six in all-domestic affair

Thursday 2nd September 2004, 12:00AM BST.

RANGERS held sway in the Bank Holiday fastpitch tournament at Beau Sejour, beating Titans in the final. Only five teams came to the plate after the disappointing withdrawal of the USAF Lakenheath squad.

Five Americans, however, did make the trip and were spread among the local sides which included Scorpions, who reformed especially for the event.

At the round-robin stage Giants won all their games and looked hot-favourites to take the title.

Rangers won three out of four, Titans two, Scorpions one and Pirates none.

But in the semis Rangers beat Scorpions and Titans pulled off a shock win over the Giants.

The previous weekend AFM Devils beat Office Projects Predators 8-4 in the final of the mixed fastpitch tournamernt which replaced the scheduled international women’s event.

In the semi-finals the Devils beat Raiders and the Predators beat Warriors. The home run derby event was won by Junior Berboda.
