LAURA BREBAN and Pippa Inderwick were popular winners of the leading senior and junior rider trophies respectively at the BSJA Guernsey Spring Show. On their respective mounts, Lucelli and Opal’s Fruitella, both were consistently excellent over the two days of jumping at Chemin Le Roi.

The junior combination capped off a fine weekend by sealing the overall honours with victory in the junior novice grand prix.

Breban also claimed a class victory on the second day with the quickest clear round in the grade C jumping.

On a good afternoon for the Breban family, Laura’s sister, Charlotte, triumphed in the 14-strong senior novice grand prix.

Both Lucelli and Charlotte’s mount, Bohemian Masterpiece, made it through to the jump-off, along with Lady Larino, ridden by Terry Lihou, but only the winner managed a third-straight clear round.

The big climax to the jumping days was the main senior grand prix, with two combinations making it through to the decisive jump-off.

Lisa Torode riding Jouvance du Sire was first to go and a fine round was only blotted with four faults at the last fence.

That meant that Emma Dorey knew a clear round would guarantee victory and Snaffles Purple Patch made no mistake under her guidance to take the honours.

It was a similar story in the junior grand prix as Charlotte Croft on Ballygawley Lad finished faultless after Jenny Winfindale and Kilrea Boy had accrued just four faults when going first in the jump-off.

Jodie Travers, meanwhile, claimed first and second place in the 128cm grand prix.

She claimed the trophy riding Willow Parks Amos by just 0.14sec. in the jump-off ahead of her other mount, Koolmyliun Quality Street.

The preceding nursery championship had been won in a two-combination jump-off by Catherine Gaudion riding The Hale Viola, with Sophie Cowley and Barkwell Miss Tittlemouse the runners-up.
