MORE than one million pages were served last month by the Guernsey Press’s sister website www.thisisguernsey.com. It is the highest number of page impressions requested by browsers and confirms it as the Bailiwick’s number one commercial site. Combining impressions from everything the site delivers online, including the recently launched and very successful HomeFinder property service, the total number of pages served last month was 1,127,861 to an average of 3,037 unique visitors a day.
Readership is widespread: 33% from the UK, 43% from the Channel Islands and 6% coming from the US and 3% from Australia. Darren Umney, Guiton Group Internet manager, said that 142 other recognised locations ranged across the globe, from Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Asia.
‘Unique visitors for the month of May currently stand at 46,479,’ he said.
Guernsey Press editor Richard Digard welcomed the latest figures.
‘The backbone of thisisguernsey is content uploaded from the newspaper and the statistics show that we are the dominant provider of news, information and advertising in the Bailiwick,’ he said.
Newspaper managing director Paul Carter added: ‘With almost 40,000 islanders reading the paper daily and a further 3,000-plus visitors keeping in touch via our web portal every day, we are seeing our audience reach and influence grow steadily year on year.
‘No other media can claim to have such extensive, relevant and vital coverage for islanders, either here or abroad.
‘These figures show that for anyone, particularly advertisers, wanting to reach a total audience, there really is only one choice in the Bailiwick.’
