Events business on front of grid

A GUERNSEY event management company has made an international impact, just six months after its launch. Orchard Events – sister company to Orchard PR – has helped organise corporate motor sport meetings in the Middle East and Monaco and is anticipating more in South Africa and Malaysia later this year.
Managing director Fiona Murray was subcontracted to host the Qatar Grand Prix Masters event – a series of races between 16 retired motor racing legends, including Nigel Mansell, Rene Arnoux and Emerson Fittipaldi.
Miss Murray’s particular responsibility was to look after sponsors, media representatives and the drivers’ families.
The company was also commissioned to manage the launch of the Johnnie Walker sponsorship of the McLaren F1 team at the Monaco Grand Prix.
That included the unveiling of a celebratory whisky bottle with a Steinmetz diamond-encrusted collar, which was presented to McLaren Group CEO Ron Dennis to celebrate 40 years of the team’s history.
‘These events are specified to the very highest standards, as one would expect with such prominent brands, and a high level of sophistication is expected at the world’s top motor sport events,’ she said.
‘I was delighted to be commissioned for this high calibre work and with the very positive feedback received from the ultimate clients.’
Miss Murray will be on duty at the Grand Prix Masters at Silverstone in August.
The company is currently working on more new business closer to home, with interest in a number of corporate events in Guernsey and Jersey.
