Get ahead, get a wig, is salon shop owner’s hope

THE latest business venture at Rose’s Salon Shop could raise a few eyebrows in the hairdressing world. The shop, which supplies hair and beauty products, is branching out into hairpieces and wigs.
‘We completely restocked the place and opened it out to more people,’ said owner Rose Mahy, 50, who took on the business last year.
‘We went to a show in March to get the hairpieces – they’re off-the-peg products. You can go from straight to curly or short to long in a matter of minutes.’
Mrs Mahy, who used to be a hairdresser, said the products were suitable for all ages.
‘It’s for everyone – for young girls on an evening out or older people who want to dress up. You can go from casual to elegant in a few minutes.
‘With fashion these days, girls can get away with anything – that’s the idea: you can go out looking completely different.’
The hairpieces are made from kanaklon, a high-grade synthetic fibre.
‘I’d definitely buy these pieces,’ said 21-year-old university student Hayley Webb, Mrs Mahy’s niece.
‘I’ve worn them out before. They make you look completely different and people don’t realise it’s not your own hair. I’d definitely recommend them.’
Mrs Mahy said she was also able to order toupees for men as well as theatrical-style wigs.
