BAMCI wins Pam award
Monday 17th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
Baring Asset Management (CI) Ltd has won industry recognition for its role in managing specific investment funds. The Private Asset Management award was given for best use of ‘long-only multi-manager structures’.
Judged by a panel of 14 independent leading industry figures based in Guernsey, Jersey and London, the award is a much sought-after accolade in the private-client industry.
The judges acknowledged Barings’ innovative use of investment funds based on risk characteristics, rather than a traditional approach, which places the emphasis on industry standard benchmarks.
‘This is recognition of our commitment to product development and training over many years and is independent verification that our multi-manager products have established their credentials,’ said Nigel Ward, BAMCI’s business-development director.
Bill Collins, the managing director of BAMCI, said that the award represented recognition – both for Guernsey and for Barings’ commitment to developing and maintaining a physical presence in the island.
‘Many of our competitors took the decision to relocate whereas we have always felt that it was beneficial for our clients, professional contacts and BAM as a business to actually be in the island,’ he said.
‘I am pleased that Barings’ investment in its staff has paid off and that the team’s efforts have been rewarded.’
