Knight steers cadets to victory

ELIZABETH COLLEGE student Peter Knight captained the Channel Islands full-bore squad to a fantastic win in the Cadet National at Bisley. The success is the perfect start for the Guernsey and Jersey contingent at the annual Imperial Meeting.

In difficult conditions the CI team won by a solitary point from Scotland with Northern Ireland third.

Knight top-scored with 103 ex 105, while fellow Sarnians Jonnie Edwards, Rob Waters and Nick Branch contributed 101, 99 and 98 respectively.

The eight-man team were grateful for the expertise provided by Peter Jory and Richard Benest in terms of advising on sight adjustments in gusty winds.

Jory said: ‘It’s an incredible achievement that a team made up from just two schools can take on and beat teams made up from school cadet forces all over the British Isles.’
