Jorys just love the ‘Alex’
Tuesday 18th July 2006, 12:00AM BST.
PETER JORY ties for the lead after the first leg of the Alexandra at the annual Bisley Imperial meeting. The Grand Aggre-gate continued with the Alexandra at 600 yards, the Daily Mail at 500 yards and the Duke of Cambridge at 900 yards.
Mike Martel continued his excellent form in the Grand Aggr-egate, scoring 50 in the Alexandra.
But it was Jory who produced the best Guernsey performance of the day, scoring 50 with nine central bulls.
This puts him in a tie with seven other shooters when the event resumes later in the week.
The Alexandra is a popular shoot for the Jory family, Peter’s brother Adam having won it in 2000.
Meanwhile, Martel’s other scores of 49.6 and 75.10 helped him to third place in the Clementi Smith Aggre-gate. Silvia Sirett also put in a 50.6 in the Alexandra for her first individual possible of the meeting, once again demonstrating her current excellent form at 600 yards.
Adam Briggs, one of the Elizabeth College schoolboys taking part in the meeting, is also performing brilliantly having scored 49 in both the Alexandra and the Duke of Camb-ridge.
With 71 in the Daily Telegraph on Saturday, he has made an outstanding start in the Grand Aggregate in his first year at Bisley.
