New Look ready for Markets day

Saturday 22nd July 2006, 12:00AM BST.

NEW LOOK will be the first shop to open in the redeveloped Markets a week today. It will open the doors at 10am at its 12,500 sq. ft two-floor store in Market Place.

The company is still recruiting to hit a target of 44 staff.

Its High Street shop will close at 5.30pm on the Thursday before the move. It is being sold but no buyer has yet been confirmed.

‘There is such a big buzz and there are a lot of team building days and training going on,’ said a company spokesman.

‘We have recruited a lot more men because there is a menswear department as well, which will be new for Guernsey.’

All the fitting-out has been completed. The new clothing is due to arrive next week. ‘It’s all on track and for this island it will be big enough,’ said the spokesman.

The larger shop will allow it to introduce new ranges.

* The opening of the store is being celebrated with a treasure hunt.

There will be 10 oversized golden tags around Town on street furniture, from park benches to lamp posts.

The lucky finders can claim a £35 outfit.

The first 50 people to buy from the new shop will also receive a New Look goodie bag.
