Event’s emphasis is on fun and fund-raising
Friday 8th September 2006, 12:00AM BST.
THE Guernsey Volleyball Association are running a fun four-a-side tournament at Beau Sejour today with all profits from the event going to the MRI scanner appeal. GVA chairman Karen Archenoul said: ‘It is open to all and the emphasis is on fun, so in addition to our normal league players, it would be nice to see some of the non-league players who turned up to the recent beach event, or indeed some of the old faces dusting off their knee pads for a good cause.
‘To make up the teams and encourage the element of fun, we will be drawing names out of the hat on the night. We hope that this will make all the teams even and ensure a good time is had by all for a worthy cause,’ she added.
Players can just turn up at Beau Sejour this evening but need to be there to register just before 7.
The matches will be played until 9 and the cost is £5 per player, with the profits going to the BBC Scanner Appeal.
