New Guernsey Press director has advertising pedigree
Thursday 5th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
ANTONY BRUN has been appointed advertising director of the Guernsey Press after 27 years working in the department. He was formerly advertising manager.
Jerry Ramsden, managing director of parent company Guiton Publishing, congratulated him on his promotion.
‘Advertising provides 80% of the newspaper’s revenue and is absolutely crucial to the success and longevity of our businesses,’ said Mr Ramsden.
‘Antony will take things forward with all necessary initiatives to ensure the continuing success of the advertising sales in our newspapers and other titles.’
His promotion was the result of some management restructuring in the wake of Guernsey Press managing director Paul Carter’s departure.
Mr Carter’s successor is being recruited.
Mr Brun said during his time at the newspaper he had experienced significant changes.
Recent developments such as bespoke booking systems and a move to purpose-built premises had enabled the advertising department to remain at the forefront of this very varied and exciting industry, he added.
‘The newspaper continues to maintain its position as the islands’ main source of news and information and the recent ABC certified circulation figures confirm that we provide our advertisers with unrivalled coverage within the Bailiwick.’
In addition to advertising opportunities within the Guernsey Press and Star and the weekly Globe, the Guernsey Press produces a number of newspaper supplements and niche publications for advertisers and readers. These include House and Home, Careers, Finance, Gardens, Building and Construction, Guernsey Now, Now People and The Visitor.
The internet also provides a further dimension to the advertising mix. Property, motors and jobs that are advertised in the Guernsey Press are also published on the company’s complementary online service, www.thisisguernsey.com, at no extra cost.
‘Within the advertising department I am pleased to have a team of experienced and dedicated professionals who share a passion and determination to succeed.’
Married to Julie, the couple have two children – Natasha, nine, and Karl, five.
Having a young family, hobbies and activities revolve around them, but Mr Brun also enjoys swimming and training their eight-month-old border collie, Bonnie.
