FROM her home office in Les Prins Estate a former finance worker is helping populate a luxury holiday community in the heart of France. Jayne Wherry has been selling mobile homes with a passion for almost a decade, but her latest project has got her the most excited.

She heads the sales team for Parc Mayenne.

Guernsey resident Vince McEneaney, a veteran triathlete and expert landscaper, owns the campsite, which is situated on the River Mayenne at the Normandy-Orne border.

The mobile homes Mrs Wherry sells are in every sense similar to small chalets or bungalows without foundations. But to get around planning restrictions, they are fitted with wheels.

As they are ‘mobile’, owning one does not count as having any real estate in France.

Mrs Wherry gave up work in 1991 to start a family. Having previously been into boating, she traded that for caravanning after her two children were born.

The family bought a mobile home in France and then acquired a small letting fleet.

Discovering a flair for it, she soon got into sales and it became a full-time job. She trades as Bonne Vie Holidays. Mrs Wherry is now a recognised distributor of many major UK manufacturers and attends national trade shows. She also remains an established letting agent.

‘It has got to be better than a 9-5 job and during the winter when things are quieter I have time to plan my advertising and marketing strategy for the next year,’ she said.

‘I love what I do. It has a real feel-good factor, making people’s holiday dreams come true. I am giving people something they want at a very good price.’

She prides herself on her personal relationships with her clients and said she remembered them all by name.

‘It is very satisfying to know clients are happy with what they get.’
