Riche pickings for B specials

Friday 13th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.

PETER JORY and Chris Workman were Guernsey’s top competitors and there was overall victory for the Sarnians’ Le Riche team in the annual inter-insular shooting weekend. But, in the main, it was the visiting Caesareans who had the best of the weekend. They not only won both A-team small-bore and air-rifle matches, in Scott Douglas they had the outstanding air-rifle shot and in Steve Bouchard, the top small-bore.

Douglas won the Kenitex Trophy for the fourth year running, scoring 578 to win by 13 from Guernsey’s Workman who beat Jersey’s David Turner on countback. Guernsey’s Lee Roussel was fourth on 560.

Bouchard won the small-bore crown by one from fellow islander Mark Yates, with Jory leading the Guernsey charge five points behind the winner.

The team competition pits in opposition eight air-rifle shots and as many small-bore marksmen from each island. The Grasett-Neame, for the A teams in each discipline, went to Jersey by 47. The Le Riche, for Bs, was won by Guernsey by 17.
