New primary format means more matches

LA HOUGUETTE and St Andrew’s schools have netted success. Standards of play were exceptionally high at the island primary schools tournament.
A new round-robin format for both the large and small schools tournament meant more matches and all schools battling against each other to be winners.
Organiser Kim Hutchison believed the new style tournament had been a real success – despite it being extremely busy with all 14 primary schools represented.
All teams battled hard in their seven-minute games to score vital goals.
Pre-tournament large school favourites La Houguette lived up to their reputation to beat Castel by three points, with Melrose finishing third.
In the small schools’ tournament, St Andrews outplayed all their opponents, winning every match.
Notre Dame came a close second and St Mary and St Michael third.
