Heritage analyst is in the chair for world conference

Monday 2nd July 2007, 12:00AM BST.

HERITAGE Group’s consultant analyst Charles Tedstone is to chair the high-profile Property Derivatives World Conference in London this week. The three-day event at the Victoria Park Plaza gets under way tomorrow and will provide a platform for potential investors and advisers to meet key European players and identify new investment opportunities.

Mr Tedstone has been involved in risk mitigation for the last 10 years.

He said that a property derivative could create a lower risk, less expensive and faster route to the commercial property market.

It could also reduce risk exposure or create guaranteed returns for those investors with existing commercial property exposure.

But he said its profile needed to be raised and hoped the conference would go some way to achieving that.

‘Property funds wishing to use derivatives as an investment vehicle need to create greater awareness amongst bankers, fund managers and other professionals to provide investors with broader options in new alternative asset classes.’

Mr Tedstone is currently working in partnership with MSS Real Estate, the group behind the FTSE UK Commercial Property Index Series.
