Project is new player in forklifts
Wednesday 1st August 2007, 12:00AM BST.
FROM today two of Guernsey’s best known hire firms have joined forces. Project Hire and Sale has bought Steve Williams Fork Lift Hire and Sales and taken over his client base.
The move comes following Mr Williams’ early retirement after having his own business for the past 20 years.
‘Steve approached us and it seemed like a great opportunity,’ said Project managing director Martyn Guilbert.
‘All we want to do is continue his business and to carry on giving the high quality service he has provided to his customers all these years.
‘For us it’s a very good fit. We have wanted to get involved in forklifts for a while so this is a good way to make that happen.
‘We have acquired equipment over the years and grown that way, but this is our first acquisition of another business.’
Mr Williams said it was important for him to have his customers and clients looked after by a firm he rated highly.
‘There were a number of people I could have approached but we have known each other for a number of years.
‘If one of my customers asked me where they could find a certain piece of equipment I would recommend Project and vice versa.’
Mr Guilbert said it was an important development for the company, which began trading in 1992 and is part of the Norman Piette group.
At present it employs 14 full-time staff.
‘Steve Williams is well known throughout Guernsey and his name is synonymous with forklifts.
‘Everybody knows who he is, so we will look to carry on that great reputation.
‘All of us at Project want to wish him all the best for his retirement.’
