Actuaries are pass masters

Wednesday 15th August 2007, 12:00AM BST.

FIVE actuarial students at BWCI Group have achieved a record 89% success level in the latest exams. National pass rates were just 53%. Carl Stanford, BWCI’s study coordinator, said: ‘Our students have done incredibly well to achieve an 89% pass rate. The actuarial exams have a reputation as being amongst the most challenging professional exams.’

Actuaries have to pass 16 before they can qualify.

‘Getting through the actuarial exams requires considerable commitment from students.

‘BWCI recognises this and we provide a very supportive training package for our students.’

Each has a study mentor in one of the group’s qualified actuaries.

And although students have weekly study leave, they also need to put in a significant amount of additional work in their own time.

‘The exam results underline our students’ commitment to studying.’
