Tricky breeze makes single round a challenge
Tuesday 21st August 2007, 12:00AM BST.
AFTER the heat and pressure of Rhodes, the island’s top archers were back to competing in their own back yard for the Bowmen of Guernsey Champion-ships. For many of the competitors it was their first shoot since the Island Games.
The weather started poorly with a shower and breeze.
The showers stopped and it became warmer but with a trickier breeze that strengthened throughout the day.
The summer championships are decided with a single Fita round and there were compound section wins for Toni Robilliard, Caroline Pinchemain and young Michael Marquand.
Chris Massey, Chantelle Goubert and Jemma Loveridge were the recurve victors.
* The next shoot for the archers is another longbow challenge followed by the annual International Double Fita at Port Soif on 1 and 2 September.
