Law shows no ill effects of crash in racing return

CHRIS LAW seems to have suffered no ill effects from his recent 80mph horror crash as he came 14th at Brands Hatch at the weekend. The 16-year-old Elizabeth College student was lucky to walk away unscathed when he rolled his race car several times during the Snetterton round of the British Renault Clio Championship at the end of last month.
In the next round at Brands Hatch and in a new Renault Clio Sport car, the Sarnian pulled out all the stops to take a creditable 14th place out of 36 competitors.
‘It was a very good result – it went really well,’ said Law.
‘I didn’t think much of the crash because I know how safe the cars are. I came out of it unscathed and I knew that I would be OK in the car at Brands Hatch.’
Law first had to come through the qualifying round at the famous Kent track, which he did with flying colours. He finished 12th out of 24 to ensure that he started in 24th place on the grid for the main event.
He proceeded to work his way through the pack to jump 10 places. In the process the young Guernsey star posted the ninth-quickest lap.
He is next in action at Donington in three weeks’ time and then Thruxton on the weekend of 13 and 14 October. He is also looking to take part in the winter series of the championship that kicks off at Donnington on 1 November.
Law feels his first season in the series is going well.
‘Brands was the best I’ve driven this year and I’ve been driving really well this year,’ he said.
‘I’m getting faster and faster as I get more used to the car.’
