Le Quesne run about to end?

Friday 31st August 2007, 12:00AM BST.

GUERNSEY are out to end Jersey’s Le Quesne Trophy domination tomorrow. The men’s teams meet at Vale Rec’s Corbet Field green to battle it out over six rinks while their female counterparts do likewise at the Northern Bowling Associa-tion’s Delancey Park headquarters.

Both start at 10am.

The matches have been close in recent times.

Last year in Jersey, the Sarnian men won on three of the six rinks but lost out on shot difference by only 12.

Although only one of the women’s fours was victorious, a mere 17 shots separated the teams overall.

In the warm-up encounter for this year’s clash, the Guernsey men defeated the women on all six rinks.

Meanwhile, Sunday will see the Corbet Field host the Channel Islands finals.

The Jersey qualifiers include husband and wife Thomas and Lindsey Greechan who managed the double of men’s and women’s singles titles.

They face Guernsey champions Don Batiste and Pauline Leadbeater.

Matt Le Ber will play his good friend Jamie McDonald for the under-25 championship.

Disappointingly, the Jersey women’s pairs champions will not be traveling so Leadbeater and Wilma Le Feuvre will receive a walkover.
