Grobbelaar latest legend to confirm Track appearance
Monday 3rd September 2007, 12:00AM BST.
LIVERPOOL fans are in for a ‘Brucey bonus’.
Their former goalkeeper, the eccentric and charismatic Bruce Grobbelaar, will be with fellow Liverpool ‘Legends’ in Guernsey at The Track on 10 September. He will join the likes of former Reds’ stars John Barnes, Ian Rush, Gary McAllister, Jason McAteer, Jan Molby and Phil Neal on the pitch in a star-studded line-up against a Belgrave Wanderers select side.
Grobbelaar, the South African-born Zimbabwe international, who won 13 major medals in 13 years at Anfield, is infamous for his goal-line ‘wobble’ against A.S Roma in the dramatic 1984 European Cup Final penalty shoot-out win.
Grandstand tickets for the match are sold out but a few tickets for the ground are still available from the Aurigny reservations desk, Evans & Co., DW Arundell, Intersport, Ian Brown Cycles, Mariners Inn or Yacht Hotel.
They cost £12 for adults and £5 for children.
Islanders are being warned tickets are going fast.
* The Guernsey Press will be offering a special ‘Legends’ prize in the next few days.
