Bourgaize in for long weekend
Thursday 8th November 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
YOUNG Guernsey netball star Zola Bourgaize has a hectic weekend schedule ahead. The 18-year-old and Lyndsey Bougourd, 17, have both made the final cut of 12 players for Team South’s National Talent League match against Celtic Dragons tomorrow night.
Having initially been selected for the 16-strong squad in the junior version of the national Super League, the pair travel to Cardiff earlier in the day for training before the game.
‘They are both over the moon and did not think they would make the last 12 – they are really chuffed.
‘There is a lot of talent out there and coming from here to do it is absolutely brilliant,’ said Bourgaize’s mum Denise.
Zola also coaches Guernsey’s under-16 team and will be with them for their game in the Isle of Wight on Saturday.
And on Sunday she will be appearing back in Guernsey at Beau Sejour where the island take on Tongham in the South Region League.
Another Guernsey player, Naomi Taylor, will be playing for the Celtic Dragons senior side against Team South and the younger girls are hoping to watch.
