Ozanne narrows the gap on Sebire

Wednesday 14th November 2007, 12:00AM GMT.

‘OZZY’ Ozanne made better use of the backmarkers to beat championship rival Leeroy Sebire in the latest winter autocross meeting at Chouet. Sebire, overall points leader, gave the defending champion a fright when he led on lap seven, but with Ozanne’s canny use of the also-rans, he inched ahead and won to close to within four points of Sebire at the top of the standings.

Sebire is also edging away in the large-cars series and having scored in every meeting he leads by five points from Gatis Liepa, the Latvian failing to finish on this occasion after incurring steering damage.

Marilyn Robilliard made it three wins out of three in the women’s championship while Peter Rose won both standard-tyres races to move ahead in that particular championship.

Second and third-place finishes lifted Chris Tebble to third overall in that section, one point behind Sebire.

With two wins and a second place, Martyn Lowe leads the grand slam challenge from Liepa, while Simon Carre is up to third after a second-place finish in the latest race.

Fifty-four cars competed in round three.
