A GUERNSEY public relations practitioner has played a part in shaping a global professional event which will take place later this year. Steve Falla, pictured right, founder of Orchard PR, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ international advisory group. For the past year he has attended regular meetings at the institute’s London HQ, including a dedicated working party headed by CIPR president Elisabeth Lewis-Jones. The fifth World Public Relations Conference and Festival will take place in London in June. Last year’s was held in South Africa.
The two-day event, entitled The Public Benefit of Public Relations: Developing Society Through Effective Communication, is intended to inform, educate, inspire and challenge PR professionals.
It will look at issues such as how the airlines are dealing with climate change and the image of the energy industry.
Attendees are expected from all over the world and from all sections of the public relations profession and industry – whether in-house, public or private sector, non-governmental sector or agency.
‘I am a great supporter of the CIPR and relished the invitation to get involved in the planning for this landmark event for the PR profession. In particular, I’ve been inspired as a result of this close working association with some of the leading PR people in Britain,’ said Mr Falla.
