Guernsey Vets overcome Navy

Tuesday 26th February 2008, 2:30PM GMT.

THE Guernsey Vets retained the Commodore Ferries Cup with a fine 2-0 win over the Royal Navy Vets at Blanche Pierre Lane.

With a slight wind behind them, the hosts got off to a flying start with a brilliantly executed goal from Lee Gallienne. The move started down the right with Darren Le Tissier finding Luke Allen, whose cross was side volleyed into the roof of the net from eight yards by Gallienne.

Two minutes later Paul Philp broke through the heart of the Navy defence only to see his shot drift wide with only the keeper to beat.
