HERM schoolchildren packed their bags and went to London yesterday.
The three-day trip will include a visit to the Globe theatre where the pupils will take part in a workshop on Romeo and Juliet. Head teacher Mary Carey said that her eight pupils, aged from four to 10, had been learning about Shakespeare and his plays.
‘There has been a lot of talk about the need to introduce children to Shakespeare’s work much earlier than GCSE level,’ she said. ‘We have been doing just that. All of our pupils have been studying his plays at different levels and the response has been quite amazing.’
