ST MARTIN’S infants arrived at school dressed as their favourite book characters as part of their World Book Day celebrations. The children paraded their costumes around the hall before being read to by the juniors, who had each brought in their own favourite book to share.

‘I brought Little Lumpty because my sister used to read it  and I loved it. It’s like a sequel to Humpty Dumpty and is about an egg that looks up to him and jumps off a wall onto a blanket. The younger children really enjoy it’ said Harry Lewis, 11.

Ebenezer Wherry, 11, chose a Guernsey classic: The Little Yellow Plane Adventure number 6. ‘It’s called Atissue! It’s about Joey the aeroplane and the illustrations and the story are funny and good,’ said Ebenezer.
