The Indian Cottage team on the day they clinched the SSL title.
INDIAN COTTAGE have secured the Sunday Soccer League title for the first time. The side coached by Nick Mollet and Wayne de Carteret have gone through the league season unbeaten.
They convincingly beat main rivals OCS 5-0 and in their second match against them at KGV a week later were leading 2-1 through goals from Jamie Roussel and a cracking long-range strike from midfielder Niall Bougourd.
But after OCS had pulled a goal back and then had a player sent off, the Portuguese side disagreed with a decision by referee Garry King and promptly walked off the pitch. The official had no option but to abandon the game with 15 minutes left. But Indian Cottage will not have to replay it as they were handed the title on a plate when OCS were unable to field a side for their match against Mariners at the weekend.
