Drinkers hit by second rise in months
Friday 7th March 2008, 2:29PM GMT.
DRINKS prices will rise by an average of 4% from Monday.
‘Unfortunately it is that time of year again when we send out the dreaded price increase,’ Randalls of Guernsey managing director Ian Rogers told licensees in a letter this week.
‘This year, more than any other year, has seen unprecedented pressure on the cost of raw materials, glass bottles, fuel, transport, shipping and labour,’ he said. The price of malted barley and hops has doubled since the early part of 2007 due to crop shortages.
This has also been shown in the huge increase in the price of bread.
