THE sea wall at Bordeaux was breached yesterday.

Granite cap stones were torn from it before the morning tide had reached its peak. The road was awash by 7.30. As the tide began to recede, water could be seen coming up through holes in it.

Harbour master Captain Peter Gill, who lives opposite the affected area, said the damage looked quite significant. ‘It’s quite clear that the Tarmac has lifted and there’s been a loss of the material from underneath,’ he said.
