Pub rocked as sea wall is breached

LARGE lumps of the Cobo sea wall were tossed by the tide towards the newly refurbished Rockmount on Monday night and again yesterday morning.

The wall started to sustain damage at about 8.30pm on Monday.A window at the front of the premises was smashed and had to be boarded up. There was also minor flooding and benches and furniture outside were destroyed.

‘We got away with it quite lightly,’ admitted Rockmount manager Jonathan Jackson. ‘It’s lucky that large pieces from the wall did not smash through the windows at the front. I have been here nearly 15 years and have never seen it this bad,’ he said.
