IT WAS the same old problem for Matt Jennings as his scheduled fight did not go ahead.
The 31-year-old cruiserweight was supposed to top the bill at St Pierre Park Hotel as the Amalgamated Boys’ Club took on Woking Amateur Boxing Club, but his opponent, Martin Wheeler, weighed in 6kgs too heavy and was not allowed to fight.
The bout was due to be a warm-up for the Sarnian’s foray into the National ABA Championships and the south-west regional finals in Gloucestershire on 29 March. No-shows have dogged Jennings’s career. ‘I’m disappointed because I felt I boxed well at the last show,’ he said.
