BANK details of Maison Maritaine residents were left exposed by a fault in the States internet system, Treasury and Resources has admitted.
The Guernsey Press revealed yesterday that a flaw in gov.gg websites allowed easy access to personal data – including care records – about the home’s residents, but the department has now disclosed that bank details were also at risk.
The online vulnerability was brought to the attention of States IT specialists by web developer Marcus Cicero, formerly a local resident. Staff worked around the clock through the weekend to fix it and have also been investigating what other sensitive material could potentially have been accessed.
