AIRTEL-VODAFONE opened its High Street store yesterday and immediately went on the attack with aggressive pricing deals.

The island’s third telecom operator has promised better value for money with the launch of its 3G and 2G mobile networks. And Bharti Group CEO and chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, who was on hand to cut the ribbon and serve the shop’s first customer, believes they have done just that.

It is offering pay-as-you-go calls or texts to any of its network numbers for just 1p a minute or text respectively as well as the selected monthly plans. He said those compared favourably with rivals Sure and Wave.
