Schools safety rethink does not go far enough
Friday 28th March 2008, 2:29PM GMT.
LATEST plans for traffic calming around Les Nicolles schools do not go far enough, according to Education minister Martin Ozanne.
And he was disappointed that Environment, which put forward its revised proposals on Wednesday, had not yet been in touch to say what was happening. Environment bowed to concerns over its original laissez-faire plans and has decided to create a pedestrian priority zone, with measures including reduced speed limits during school times, rumble strips and painted walkways.
‘I don’t think it goes far enough,’ said Deputy Ozanne. ‘I know there will still be some concern from people who live in the area.’
